I'm not sure why but the image of a small white crofts or cotijas across the field of wheat, barley, moor or sierra in Spain, France, Portugal, Scotland or England or around the world fascinate me. Is it the struggle against nature, or mass social change, or is it a link maybe to a past life? I dont know but whatever it is, these buildings, abandoned or re developed have an atmosphere of old life clinging on, they are totally functional, difficult to maintain on a low budget, merely suitable for survival. I came across this example below Los Picos the Riales near Estapona, set in afield system as ancient as the building the croft was in a dip hidden from the surrounding development
